Oxidized starch, technical use

Chemically modified corn starch, by sodium hypochlorite oxidation process. This is performed under certain PH, humidity, time and temperature conditions in order to achieve a slow product oxidation, creating thus a homogeneous cut of polysaccharid chain as well as a high level in carboxylic groups.

This guarantees that the product, once diluted and cooked, is formed into a non-retrograding starch solution with stable viscosity in different concentration ranges and application temperatures. Marketed in three modification ranges: AF5460, AF6066, AF6672

Properties and uses

Acid, alkaline and neutral papers.Cardboard food packaging.Superficial use.

Superficial resistance:

Due to its film formation capacity it provides superficial resistance, improving paper performance in printing processes.

Ink absorption:

Creates a film that improves ink retention.

Easily applied:

Low gelling temperature, allowing complete granule cooking, releasing amylose and amylopectine chains completely. This provides a high performance.
AF OXYDIZED MODIFIED STARCH Cooked paste has stable viscosity in normal application ranges. Cooking at different concentration does not change the film quality.

AF OXYDIZED MODIFIED STARCH Cooked paste has both excellent flow and penetration properties, is fixed to paper sheets minimizing fluff and sealing pores.
It is an excellent general adhesive, fit for food packaging paper manufacture.
