Maltodextrin

Maltodextrins are nonsweet, nutritive saccharide polymers derived from starch. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a white hygroscopic spray-dried powder. Maltodextrins are classified by Dextrose Equivalent and have a DE between 10 to 20.

As food ingredients, maltodextrins are a valuable tool production. Maltodextrine is used in the manufacturing of food as volume, transport and texture agent and flavors encapsulator. It is used in stuffed meats, baby foods, icecream powders, citric powder beberages, cakes, powder foods, instantaneous foods, chocolates, confitures, bakery products and others. It can also be found as an ingredient in a variety of other processed foods.
